It’s Monday, which means another couponing class!
We’re now in week 7 of the ten week couponing course and I hope you all are really getting going on all the great free stuff out there. Go here to learn more about my free couponing course or sign up here.
At this point, you should have a good sense of how to navigate the ins and outs of Walgreens and CVS – and with some practice, you’ll be well on your way to scoring hundreds in free stuff each month. This week I want to focus on the other programs – the ones that aren’t as spectacular as CVS and Walgreens but still deliver awesome rewards. The main reason we focus on Walgreens and CVS in the couponing course is simply because those are the most popular stores around the country, and they generally also have the best programs for getting free items. However, Rite Aid and Longs can also deliver some good deals, so you should know about these too to see if they work for you. Let’s take another look at what’s available at Rite Aid!
Although you can use your coupon-match up knowledge at any store (Rite Aid included), at Rite Aid you do need to learn about the Rite Aid Single Check Rebates system to maximize your savings.
What is the Rite Aid Single Check Rebate system?
The Single Check Rebate system at Rite Aid is most similar to the old easy saver rebate system at Walgreens, in that you pick up a booklet at the beginning of the month in store or online, buy the appropriate items, and then either send in your receipt with the accompanying tally sheet via the mail or upload it online at riteaid.com. You then get your money back in checks sent to you in the mail.
The main annoying thing about the Rite Aid system is that the deals (including the entirely free after rebate deals) are sometimes only good for a few days or one particular week. They are not always good for the whole month (sometimes they are, though). So this is the only thing to watch out for - as getting the freebies from Rite Aid can sometimes require more planning to make sure you go to Rite Aid during the right week of the month.
In my personal experience, I have found that the fact that there is this extra complication means that less people use the Rite Aid system, meaning that I usually have an easier time finding all the free after rebate items at one store on my first try. (Since more people use the CVS system, for example, you don’t always get all the items you want on the first go around).

I received this question from a reader this week and thought it might be good to answer online here. Given how many of you are participating in the coupon class, I think it will be quite relevant!
I went to Walgreens, yesterday after working on coupon scenario purchases. When I try to use my RR and mfg coupons together it is not working out for me. I had earned RR on a different item than I attempted to purchase in addition to the fusion mfg coupon. Then the clerk said I could not use 2 mfg coupons on one item, I told her I only was attempting to use the RR, they say I earned along with mfg. coupon. Still problem and after purchase did not receive the RR on end of ticket. They said RR did not print out if I used RR? Help!
This is exactly the kind of trouble we talked about recently in the post where I explored the ways that managers and employees simply give too much mis-information at Walgreens and CVS! First off, remember:
- You CAN’T use one register rewards to buy the exact same product again, or even sometimes a different product from the same manufacturer
- You CAN use manufacturer’s coupons combined with Register Rewards at Walgreens
- Keep track of the number of products you are buying. If you are using two register rewards, you need to buy at least two items. If you are using three register rewards coupons, you need to buy at least three items, etc.
- Walgreens Register Rewards are fickle and sometimes there is NO reason why it’s not working! Try again! It sounds like that - sadly - this may have been your situation, as you seem to have covered all the bases;)
